When you first started down the baby-making road, you were in a dead sprint and filled with optimism. Not realizing you were getting a bit ahead of yourself, you started making elaborate plans as to how you would announce your husbandÆs pending fatherhood. Trips to the mall included a special detour to check out the latest maternity fashions, and you secretly started making a list of the must-have items for spring for those sporting a bulging belly. Now that youÆve dipped into the bag of ovulation tricks and are actively using your tool of choice but still have nothing to show for it, you are starting to feel winded. How much longer is this going to take? You flash back to ninth grade and hear the droning voice of your algebra teacher, ôIf you are thirty-five years old and ovulate once a month, what is the probability you will have a child by age thirty-seven?ö As if thatÆs not enough, you take your calculations to the next level to determine how quickly youÆll have to get pregnant again to have your second child before you hit forty. The frazzled frenzy of age versus fertility can leave anyone feeling a bit overwhelmed. ItÆs time for a reality check. No, it doesnÆt look like youÆll be one of those lucky women whose pregnancy is a ôsurprise,ö but you are also a far cry from birthing the first human clone. From all your research, you know most doctors recommend a woman consult her physician after trying to conceive for a year (if sheÆs under thirty-five) or after six months (if sheÆs over thirtyfive). YouÆre not there yet, so donÆt panic. Dust yourself off, shake off the past monthsÆ disappointments and get back to businessùitÆs time for Operation Ovulation! Preoperative Work: Getting the Goods Operation Ovulation begins the minute the red flag of failure arrives. Once again, itÆs time for a trip to the pharmacy to pick up the monthly care package: one large box of tampons, two boxes of ovulation kits, two boxes of pregnancy tests. In the early days of Operation Ovulation, you probably approached the checkout register rather sheepishly and tried to camouflage your conception care package by piling on all sorts of unnecessary merchandiseùPringles variety pack, every possible flavor of Twizzlers, mango body scrub and a veritable collection of celebrity rags. Buying junk food and junk journalism is probably no less embarrassing, but somehow it manages to mask the awkwardness. Now that you are a more seasoned veteran, you have mapped out a strategy for each month. Selecting the proper retail outlet is the crucial first step. In the old days, you loved the small local pharmacy because everyone knew your name, and more than once the pharmacist questioned your choice of over-the-counter cough medicine. When it comes to Operation Ovulation, however, anonymity is key! YouÆve scouted out the county and found one of those superstores that could double as an airport terminal with the most apathetic, disinterested, least customer-friendly pharmacy within a twenty-mile radius. Perfect! Once all the goods are collected, itÆs time to check out. Not too fast! Take a moment to scan all the cashiers. YouÆre looking for the most disgruntled (preferably male) cashier. Your ideal checker will have a dirty, rumpled uniformùa sure sign his probation officer made him take the job. Jackpot! Now just slink through the line without making eye contact or starting any small talk, and youÆre home free, at least for another month. There was a month Patty was certain she was pregnant. Unfortunately, this happened almost every month, but this one month in particular she was really convinced, so she decided it was time to take a pregnancy test. She didnÆt have any in the house, so she ran out to the local pharmacy. Patty grabbed a pregnancy test and headed straight for the checkout line without any thought. Ironically, there was a five-foot poster declaring the storeÆs commitment to the ôPrivacy Actö posted at the register. It turned out her cashier was a sweet older immigrant woman. With a thick Polish accent, she screamed, "CongratulationsùBaby!ö Humiliated and terrified that she may actually know someone in the long line behind her, Patty tried to explain she wasnÆt sure if she was pregnant, which is why she needed the test. Unfortunately, her explanation was lost in translation, and the cashier sadly replied, ôYou no happy with baby?ö Patty didnÆt have the energy to explain she would be out of her mind with happiness if she were in fact pregnant, but she had been taking these tests for months and not one had been positive. Instead, she just said, ôYes, IÆm very happy to be pregnant,ö and never went back to that store again. ¬ 2005. All rights reserved. Unfortunately, I never got to read this book because when I received it, the spine of the book was so poorly put together that the pages fell out. I sent it back for a replacement and although Amazon was quick to replace it, the exact same thing happened again and the pages came falling out of the book. I was very upset that I didn't get a chance to read it because I would've liked to. I do not own a kindle so there was no option for me to go with a digital version of this book. Thankfully, Amazon is so good about returning items that I will be looking for a refund and maybe try to purchase something else similar to this.

I read this when we had been TTC for awhile and I started to suspect we might have a problem, and this book was exactly what I needed - it took me through everything that we could possibly go through on a journey of infertility and yet it was funny! We ended up getting pregnant about a week after I read this, but I am still glad I now know what some of my friends have gone through. Infertility is incredibly stressful and this book shows you that you are not alone and that one way or another, one day it is going to work out - and that in the meantime it's best to laugh at yourself!

Funny but not a whole lot of facts, compared to other books. Don't expect this book to educate you on cervical mucus or the need to have sex in the 2 days BEFORE you ovulate. Still, this book does help you not feel alone when trying to conceive.

For anyone struggling with infertility I would HIGHLY recommend this book. My husband and I have been struggling for 2 and a half years trying to successfully conceive and carry a pregnancy. This book has helped me in ways I hadn't imagined. It felt like best friend at times when my "real" best friends and family just couldn't understand. Buy this for yourself or anyone you love. You won't be disappointed and neither would the recipient.

This book is awesome. I am just TTC (trying to conceive) and this book really detailed the ups and downs of each month as you ride the roller coaster of your cycle. I also was reassured that if I have to take the next step, seeing a doctor, not all of the options for getting pregnant with help are as scary as I thought.I highly recommend this book if you are just starting to TTC. Also, it mentioned the spit test (OVATEL) that not few of my current friends that are moms had heard of. It is an ovualtion tester that uses just your spit and can be reused a million times.I bought mine on-line for $22. Cheap and it seems to work.Get this book.

I am so glad I bought this book! Trying to get pregnant has turned into such a serious and hard experience for me and this book has helped me to remember my sense of humor. There were some issues discussed in this book that I realated to so much, and they seem so intense as i experience them, but as I read about the authors stories it was absolutely hilarious! Like obsessing over the ovulation strips! If you're having a hard time conceiving you will definitely relate to this book and enjoy it!

This book helps those going through difficulties in trying to conceive see that you are not alone, and you are not crazy! This is just a difficult and trying journey. The book helps readers to laugh at all the crazy things we think and do while dealing with obstacles in trying to conceive. But it also serves as a reminder that many people have a hard time trying to get pregnant and that there is hope out there.

I ordered this book from the recommendation of someone on a bulletin board. What a pleasant surpise! The trials and tribulations of trying to conceive hit close to home, and were presented with warmth and humor. This book was also very informative on the steps you'll go through if you don't succeed in conceiving on your own. I recommend it if you or friend are trying to conceive, and especially if "infertility" treatments may be in your future.

This book is truly life-changing. I’m very interested in quantum physics and have read a lot about it. I also have read a lot of different books on manifesting. Coming to this from both a scientific perspective as well as a spiritual one, it all makes sense and made me see reality in a totally different perspective. It ties together the spiritual and the scientific and says what I have believed ever since I became interested in quantum physics: the Observer is God Himself. There is no disconnect between the Bible and science- each reinforces the other. We are all connected by consciousness. There is scientific evidence to support all of what this book contains. The more scientists learn, the more they can see that the mystical and the spiritual that we have always known to be true, are not the imaginings of crazy people. It is all true. Reality is not what we have thought it to be, but spiritual teachers, shamans, and others have known the truth from ancient times. Whether or not we live in a virtual reality, as the author says is likely, doesn’t really matter. Reality acts like a simulation, and that is the point. In changing our beliefs, we can change our realities and our lives; through our beliefs we can heal relationships, finances, careers, our minds, our bodies. We are limited only by our beliefs...we can become limitless.

I read this before my spine fusion surgery. What a help, I am off the pain medications early and better than expected by those around me. This book has kept me focused and on track. Not one day of depression or pain that I couldn't shift my focus away from. I am thankful for this procedure because of my preparations. I am healing myself.

I cannot begin to praise this book enough.I am doing the exercises that Gregg recommends in this book. I am truly recognizing old negative subconscious beliefs and doing my inner work to release them and replace them with positive beliefs.I am truly inspired to continue my daily spiritual practices. I received a doctorate in Metaphysics so I am very familiar with the quantum field of energy.I highly recommend this book to anyone who is ready to let go of beliefs that do not support ones true spirit.Thank yoiu GreggDr. Nancee Sweeney

Belief plays such an important role in healing. This book will bring clarity to that concept. It's an excellent book that you will want to share with anyone dealing with illness.

This is a must read to help us to understand the power we all have to live beyond our expectations. The clarity of his message is phenomenal and the codes at the end are a must study. Thank You, I am so happy I was guided to your book. I will go on to study more of your works.

I love Gregg Braden - his writing style and his ability to make what he's explaining so clear. This is the third book I've read of Gregg's and it's awesome in helping me understand why some of my prayers were answered and some so far have not been (esp. ones for myself!).

I am going through this book for a second time because there is so much to it! I am also buying a copy for my godson. This has really opened my eyes to possibilities. I now have greater faith in making changes to my life and the cool thing about it is that he boils it all down to a factor of quantum physics! How cool is that? The only reason I give it a 4 out of 5 is that it is a bit tedious in spots. Worth getting to the end. Loving the second read!

Information highly sought after, but hardly found in one place, it's all here

If you want to read a case study involving psychology and science, this is not the book for you. If you want a hard-hitting documentary, this is also not the book for you. This is a book from a foster MOTHER (not a doctor), involving her family's attempt to help children who are broken, those children that so many others have given up on helping. There were instances I thought she was being too gentle, as did her family, but obviously the "normal" ways of discipline have not worked. A completely different approach is called for, to try to sway these children from a final disintegration and life in an institution. Some, sadly, can't be helped (I grew up knowing one such child). What I see this book doing, besides entertaining the reader, is opening the general reader up to what life is like for these abused, traumatized children and what life can be like for the families trying to help them find a place in this world. These are stories about real children and real families and a system that is struggling to help as many as possible. I didn't agree with everything she did, but I also wasn't living in that situation. Many ideas were ones I discovered during my years of providing child day care or working with people who had Alzheimer's, dementia or mental illness. I found the pace of the story steady, not too rapid or boringly slow. The author does like to use "college" words when a simple one would be just as effective. Some of the British colloquialisms were not familiar to me, but I managed to find most in the dictionary if I couldn't figure it out from the conversation. I recall very few, if any, typos or awkward structuring. I found this to be a great read and would recommend it to my friends and family.

Casey Watson and her husband Mike (psuedonyms) take in, for one year, a profoundly damaged boy and work miracles in his life. This is a gripping story, at times very difficult and painful to read. Throughout the book I was appalled by how dreadfully "the system" had failed this child and his biological siblings. When a mother sells her five-year-old into prostitution in order to procure drugs, ALL of her children need to be removed to a safe place by social services, not just one of them! The sluggish responses and lack of advocacy for these children, documented in painstaking detail throughout the book, are truly horrifying. Clearly the birthmother's home was not a safe environment for any child; why the lack of appropriate action on the part of responsible adults? Why the lengthy unsupervised visits with a violent, drug-addicted parent? It made me so angry to read of this child's unnecessary suffering.Once involved, the Watson family provides the basics: shelter, routine, stability, affection, fun, commitment, caring. And what an amazing person Justin turns out to be, as he begins to heal, and then to thrive, in the safe environment they create for him.It surprised me very much to learn that a child as troubled as Justin was initially, with a history of violently attacking people, was not at any time under the care of a psychiatrist. The foster mother/author was left to deal with terrifying situations alone and unaided, such as (SPOILER ALERT!!!) being threatened with a knife on one occasion, and a staplegun on another. At no point were the police or mental health professionals on the scene, and I found that odd. It also struck me as odd that the Watsons were willing to risk introducing a dog into their family, given Justin's history of animal cruelty. The family's strength and resilience were amazing. And Ms. Watson tells her story with no smugness; the tone is humble, not at all self-congratulatory. I was filled with admiration for how they bounced back from crises, their honesty and optimism in the face of very discouraging realities, to say the least. The book is both disturbing and inspiring. It agitated me greatly to read it, but at the same time, I am very grateful people like Casey and Mike Watson exist. Without such people, without their love and courage, the world would be a much sadder place.

***SPOILERS AHEAD***I have so much to say about this book, I don’t even know where to start. Mostly it’s about my opinion about Justin’s whole situation and how I feel about the welfare system, more than it is about the book.Firstly, I have to say I hugely admire the patience which Casey and Mike had in dealing with Justin and his outbursts and general terrible behaviour. Though, I don’t think Casey is as noble as she makes out to be. The start of the book (after the first chapter), as well as throughout, it annoyed me how often Casey makes Justin’s story about herself, her feelings, how well (or not) she deals with his behaviour, how wonderful her husband and kids are, what a hyperactive person she is,etc, etc, and how often she pats herself on the back for a job she feels she did well. To me, it took a lot of the focus off Justin when I had to sit through pages of Casey either beating herself up about how she dealt with a situation (but then more pages on EVERYONE else telling her how well she dealt with it), or her feeling terrific about calming Justin down, encouraging him, and so on (which I applaud, but don’t feel like having her analyse herself for pages on end). You see, I’ve read quite a few of Cathy Glass’s books, and she has such a humble way of telling her stories about children she fostered, without placing too much focus on herself or her family. She includes her feelings and her kids in her stories, but doesn’t constantly tell the reader how perfect her family is, or talk too much about herself and her perfect home. She shares her hands-on techniques and thus I always feel I can learn something from her. I also feel welcome in her home through her books, as I already know her routines and what to expect from the way she runs her household. So yes, I’ve seen this in another of Casey Watson’s books that I’ve read, and it also bothered me then, how she makes the story about herself and her perfect children. Also, all the grammar errors in this book were very annoying.Justin is a very disturbed child and I felt sorry for him. I detested what his mother did to him and his siblings. As a mother of two, it broke my heart over and over again each time his mother let him down or hurled abuse at him. Honestly though, for all my griping earlier in my review, I must admit that I admire people like the Watsons who open their home to such a badly damaged child, and who see it through all the way to his next placement. I would never be able to put up with the behaviour of such a child, his background notwithstanding.I felt that the welfare system let Justin down badly (no surprises there). Justin needed more than the Watson’s help. He needed a psychologist, counselling and therapy, and I was quite surprised that no-one suggested it. Anger management classes aren’t enough for a child such as Justin. Even at the end of the book Casey admits that at seventeen Justin is still not a well-adjusted child; now living in a children’s home, working as a gardener. I just can’t imagine there is much of a future for him. How will he be treating his own wife and children? Is he still abusing animals like he did with Kieron’s dog? Is he still taking pleasure in holding little children’s heads under water? This kid needed serious help; much more than a points system used by the Watsons could offer him. I viewed it as a temporary Band-Aid to improve his behaviour while he’s living with them, but how did it help him after he left their home?Clearly, it made very little difference once moved on.I think as much as Casey sugar-coated the ending, the fact that Justin’s last placement didn’t work after two years tells me that he needed more than what the Watsons could offer him, but that he was failed by, firstly, his mother, and then by a welfare system that didn’t afford him the psychological help he needed. I also didn’t buy that when they were on vacation, and Justin ran into a palm tree, his behaviour changed for the better, for the rest of their vacation (after a horrendous start). Was slamming into a palm tree really all it took to set him straight? I can’t help thinking what that suggests. It was a good read seeing how the Watsons opened their home and their hearts to him. Once I started reading I couldn’t put it down until I had finished, and read into the morning hours. The ending just left me feeling sad; though Casey and her family did all they could for Justin. What a miserable state our world is in, knowing that this sort of bad “parenting” (such as what we see with Justin’s mother and many others like her) will continue through generations onwards.

I've taken about 16 APclasses so far and I get one of these for almost every one, and they are SO useful! They don't overcomplicate concepts, and it's well organized. I honestly use this instead of textbook reading in most my classes, especially history, since it gives you the most vital information you need. I also like the math ones like this one as they really help simplify the concepts and explain in so it's very comprehensive. Much recommended!!

The explanation said English Japanese but this is totally Chinese and English.
