My little Granddaughter loves this little book. She's so proud to "read" the color words on her own after staring at the picture for a moment. Then I get to read the two perfect messages to her and we both smile ear-to-ear.On top of this the artwork is (after Yellow, sorry) totally engaging and could be featured on its own. I'm in love with the Orange, scared by the Gray and amused by Black and White.If you have a grandchild you should have this book.

This has become the token gift to all the children in our family. Each child that has received "My First Art Book" has loved it without exception. The book not only helps with color recognition and reading, but creates a delight with the images. Small fingers trace the lines of the artwork and words and it is light weight enough to be carried around giving the child an overall sense of enjoyment. I cannot recommend this book enough. Well worth it and we thank the author for creating it.

I enjoy theology and books on theological themes from a Wesleyan-Arminian perspective. My favorites have to be Wiley , Pope, and Gamertsfelder. This set tends to have a little contemporary flare due to involvement of so many writers and arrangement. Some chapters are not what would be expected in a theology such as , Social Involvement, Christian Education, Psychology, Hymnology, Frontiers in Contemporary Theology etc. Other sections that you honestly would expect in a traditional systematic theology such as pneumatology, hamartiology seem not given enough attention. Many of the subjects are not bad per se and interesting in there one spot but seem out of place in a theology. I love homology and believe in Christian education but don't consider these theology and subtract from other subjects you'd expect such as soteriology, hamartiology, pneumatology or eschatology etc. Also if you purchase set church to make sure both volume. I tried to order set three times and kept receiving volume one instead of set. I finally had to order volume two separately.

The picture on this Theology shows the two volumes that complise it. The decsription mentions the two volumes. I received only one volume on. Another reviewer on this book received only Vol 2. The set had been broken and we the two purchasers have been misled.Lack of product knowledge? Intentional misleading? Or just lack of competence?Bane news for me and the other purchaser. How to remedy? Who knows!

All my mistake I did not specify I wanted volume two. I now have three volume one .I am only new to ordering books. I want to order two of number two from set but am having difficulties.Will try again in new year.

The description and the picture give the idea that two books come with the order. This was not the case. I only received volume tow of this book order. As far as the information, I have read at least ten different systematic theology books. This one is lacking on the information side.

This is a two-volume set. It is a shame the earlier reviewer received only 1 volume. I would call this set an introduction to systematic theology. Various educators from Wesleyan Arminian denominations contributed to this work. It has been about 20 years since I went through this set. Personally, I prefer John Miley's 2 volume set from the 1800s, especially the section on the Atonement, are well as Church of the Nazarene theologian H Orton Wiley's multi-volume Systematic Theology. I remember that I liked the essays in the books, but I never had occasion to use the books again after the first reading. This set has long been out of print. For those students who like large libraries, this set may be useful. However, if one will only be using one systematic theology, Miley or Wiley, who I have on my shelf, or perhaps even Oden - whose books I've never read but have had recommended to me - would number among better choices. Since I did like most the essays, as far as that goes, I gave the set 4 stars instead of 3 stars.

Ms. Lipska tells a horrifying tale of waking up one morning and not realizing it was inappropriate to take her morning run with hair dye and a plastic cap on her head. In retrospect, it was the first sign of something very, very wrong. Later, she realized she couldn't see her right hand, and realized that the vision in her right quadrant was missing. Most of us would have raced to the doctor/hospital at that point (especially where Ms. Lipska was a two-time cancer survivor), but her judgement was impaired enough that she worried about missing a conference and ski trip. A call to her doctor to humor her husband was met with alarm, not a chuckle and the hope she would enjoy herself (she really thought that!), she went for an MRI of her brain, which was arranged with amazing speed. One wonders if Ms. Lipska wasn't a reknowned neuroscientist, would she have gotten an MRI appointment so quickly.Sadly, the imaging found three brain tumors, a recurrance of one of the cancers she had thought was gone. Ms. Lipski's sister is plugged into the Partners Medical Group (Some of Boston's most respected hospitals and physicians), and she was able to get Ms. Lipski a super-quick appointment. After a delay of a few days because of a blizzard, she began treatment. During this time, Ms. Lipski underwent what can only be described as a descent into madness. Everything we most value about ourselves, our personality and intellegence, was stripped from her.Miraculously, Ms. Lipski recovered from her cancer, and more miraculously, recovered from the insanity she suffered while in its grip. But even though she has recovered, she remembers everything, which is incredibly unusual. She is now in the nearly unique position of a person who is able to tell what she was thinking and feeling while insane.The book grabbed me in the first few pages and was unwilling to let me go until I finished, and I find myself thinking of some of the small details afterward. She does a wonderful job of communicating her horror at remembering her bout with insanity, and her relief at recovering. It is her feelings and descriptions of them that makes the book fascinating.This is a quick read, only a few hours, but those hours will be quite intense. I myself was so engrossed in the book that I snapped at my husband for announcing dinner was ready. If you have the least interest in the mind and its workings, I think you will find this book impossible to put down.

This is a wonderful and easy read. Never boring, Dr. Lipska shares her ups and downs with clarity and honesty. If you have experienced mental health issues yourself, or watched as a loved one struggles with theirs, you will easily recognize the frustratingly blurry perceptions that are the realities of those affected.We should all be so lucky to have the very talented and loving family that shared in this journey. Physical fitness is a strong part of both Dr. Lipska’s and her family’s profile. As a triathlete, I felt as though I was with a good friend as she shared her story. Dr. Lipska is every bit an Ironman in her courage, drive, and personality. She has seen great success and persevered through very tough times as she makes her way intelligently and lovingly through life. This was a pleasure to read.

Her own subsequent brain illness, with symptoms identical to mental illness she studied, is horrifying and fascinating. Yet, she recovers and maintains her family and professional support system, and repairs and recovers potentially damaged relationships. A clear, thorough, well-told odyssey.Five years after grad school, I suffered severe traumatic brain injury, primarily to prefrontal cortex. I underwent profound personality and mood changes. Within two years of injury, with professional and relational help, I completed post graduate work and licensure. After 29 years, I continue to work with people with serious mental illness.Dr. Lipska's telling connects many symptoms of mental illnesss with what is known of the brain. She so clearly describes gaps in scientific knowledge of cognitive and emotional functions of the brain. Yet mental illness is irrefutablybrain illness.This is a book I am sharing with patients and their families, to help them understand more fully that their behavior is caused by a brain illness. I turned off the TV so I could read the book without interruptions. Very well written with no wasted words. I learned a lot about brain damage.

This book not ONLY tells her story, but is filled with fascinating information about the brain and how each part functions. As someone who is beyond interested in psychology, this book captured my attention from start to finish. It was VERY easy to delve into. The ONLY hard part was seeing just how much she changed and treated her family members. However, it also just goes to show, just how delicate and precious our brains are. I would highly recommend this book!

Despite knowing nothing of neuroscience I identified deeply with this woman and her struggle. As both a stroke survivor and someone who has also regained lost sanity, I found this to be an empowering read. Her descriptions of madness brought back memories of my own but this book is so well-written and captivating I finished it all on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Easy to zip through with concise explanations of medical and scientific jargon included in the text. I give it an A+ despite an ending scene that comes off more hokey than triumphant.

For an anti-inflammatory cookbook that acknowledges nightshade sensitivities/allergies in its introductory section, there is quite a lot of nightshades in most of these recipes.This is, of course, a concern for someone like myself who was hoping to find a good source of recipes that cater to many food sensitivities. Myself being nightshade sensitive, there are recipes that include tomatoes and peppers, for example, that she offers to omit, however, she doesn't mention to omit the chipotle peppers within that same recipe. Aren't chipotle peppers also nightshades?Or curries that she suggests to omit the curry powder/paste for nightshade intolerant readers. But omitting the ingredients that make it curry, seems unappealing to me. You might as well offer "flavorless curry" to the nightshade sensitive readers. Or just say "hey, don't make this if you've got a nightshade intolerance."Admittedly, I haven't made anything from this cookbook yet. But browsing the recipes, I've found myself a little disappointed. One recipe titled "Pan-Seared Mushrooms with Caramelized Shallots," had instructions where the shallots were only added to the pan towards the last 90 seconds of cooking. That's not... caramelization though? That's just sautéed shallots. Which is fine. But why not just call it what it is? Anyway, moments like this make me question the quality of the recipes.Basically, I was looking for a book that catered to multiple food sensitivities, without feeling like you were sacrificing the flavor of a dish as a result.This seems like a good option for gluten and dairy free folks. But for those of us who have multiple food sensitivities, we can probably find a better source elsewhere.Basically, I feel like, if you're going to title something "anti-inflammatory cookbook," it should include recipes that cater to ALL the major inflammation triggers listed in the introductory segment of this book.

Excellent, practical recipes with flavor in mind. Modern, contemporary choices along with old favorites. Recipes clearly written. 'Make aheads' alone worth it for convenience & speed. I now have quinoa/black bean, greens, avocado, egg breakfast bowls rather than cereal & love them. I plan a weeks menu & precook what I can. Have lost 14 lbs so health 'works'. Written for our busy world certainly but also for someone willing to take an extra step towards better nutrition/health. My book is now filled with post-it notes & annotations. Only suggestion I'd make is to give serving size & calorie count for recipes in addition to the number of servings one makes. I'm filling that in as I make recipes. An excellent addition to cookbook collection.

First, the good--a nice collection of flavorful recipes, which are (mostly) simple and quick to prepare and which rely on fresh, healthful ingredients. A variety of ethnic cuisines are represented in the collection, from Country Captain (American South) to Breakfast Bibimbap (Korean) to Mexican and so on. The author's style is conversational and accessible; the recipes are well presented and the copy is easy to read. Good information is given on efficient meal planning, and this cookbook will allow a cook of any level to expand his or her repertoire with a minimum of effort and good results.The caveats: While the book does give some sound fundamentals on nutrition (avoid processed food, e.g.), a lot of what is presented is not well supported by science. This is not necessarily the fault of the author--nutrition is still an under-researched and often poorly understood science, and recent research (Cell, Nov. 19) suggests that individual reactions may vary greatly to identical foods, making accurate and reproducible research even harder. Plus nutritional trends come and go (low-fat! no-carb! Oat bran! Hypoglycemia! Probiotics!) and information tends to snowball and take on a life of its own, whether there is clinical data to support it or not.A great deal of the advice given in the book is anecdotal, unique to the author and in some cases some of her friends and family. But what is true for her may not be true for every reader. The Arthritis Foundation's guidelines on an anti-inflammation diet, for example does not mention omitting gluten. But because the author is gluten-sensitive, none of the recipes in the book contain gluten. Ditto dairy. I was also hoping for some new recipes to prepare the oily fish (sardines, anchovies, trout, salmon) that are recommended for an anti-inflammation diet because of the Omega-3 oils they contain. There are three recipes for oily fish, but nothing (Salade Nicoise, Seared Ahi Tuna) that couldn't be found elsewhere.As a teacher, one of the early lessons I got in disseminating information was that the methods that worked for me as a learner are not necessarily effective for everyone I'm teaching. That's my main critique of the stated purpose of this book; the author seems to have a number of food allergies, and cooking to avoid these particular allergies appears to have diminished her inflammation. But extrapolating her results to a larger audience, and calling it an "Anti-Inflammation Cookbook" is a bit of a stretch. I think better truth in advertising would have been to call it The Food Allergy Cookbook. If it had been, I probably wouldn't have bought it--but then I would have missed out on some good recipes.It's still a book I'd recommend, but not for medical reasons.

This is a great cookbook with interesting recipes. If you are looking to cut inflammation in your body try the recipes in this book. Also, eliminate all sugars for 30 days and see how you feel. I did it and the elimination of sugar helped reduce the pain from my arthritis.

Nothing new here. Common recipes and the frequent use of sugar in all its forms. Also advocates the use of dairy, which can cause major inflammation in the body. I was looking for real inspiration-

This book is a well-organized reference for children from 1stthrough 12th grade, but targeted at those under 12. The book is not adry page by page drool of words. The quick reference information is displayed pictorally. Each job is given a single page, and divided into several components. Each page has a short paragraph explaining day to day responsibilities, and a quick reference section that delineates education required, earnings and job outlook. Younger readers will be interested in the `subjects to study' paragraph which gives the reader a good basis for what academic areas they need to be strong in. Each job description has a `discover more' paragraph that takes the younger reader through a hands on example of what the job entails. The `something extra' section for each job adds interesting facts about the job that are not readily apparent. This book is a must for guidance counselors at all levels and parents should strongly consider adding it to their library.

I wanted to bump up my academic and career counseling for my elementary students. It is easy to read and navigate. Right now one of the teachers at my school is using it for an economics/business unit she's doing with her kids. She loves it. The kids like seeing that there are more jobs out there than they think. It's opening their perspective.

I am currently 25 and 195lbs. When I was 21 I was 135lbs and worked out constantly. Suddenly I began feeling tired, my brain became foggy, my mood dropped and my weight skyrocketed. I went to the doctor and found out that I had Hypothyroidism which was causing all of these problems. Even on medication I ended up being 210 lbs by the time I was 23. I didn't know what to do. I tried to work out, but I felt like I was a lost cause, a failure. My hypothyroidism combined with my weight caused arthritis and, as previously mentioned, I was tired all of the time. I thought that there was nothing I could do. If I couldn't lose the weight while on medication (which I was told, by my doctor, would make me as skinny as a model), then I would never lose it. To top it all off both my fiance and I lost our jobs. We moved 6 hours away from my hometown, my friends, my family, to stay with his family until we could get back on our feet. So, now I was heavy, depressed, and 6 hours from the only people I have ever loved and the only support network I have ever known.That was when I found Cassey on YouTube. I started following her videos (one a day) and bought her dvd. Never had I felt like a YouTube personality, fitness coach and stranger, cared so much for me and my well being. I actually cried during a workout. I was doing a move and was tiring quickly when she said, "I know it is hard, but keep going! You are worth it! You are so worth it and you deserve it!".I have lost 15lbs so far and plan on continuing to do so with Cassey as my guide. That is why I bought her book. I bought it to support her and to continue my journey.You wont regret buying this. Everything from the photos, to meal plans, to a personal note from Cassey is just beautiful. It is an investment in your happiness, your well being. If you ever fall off the wagon, it is right there with uplifting notes and a meal plan to get you back on track. Easy read love the pics she has a lot of great exercises in the book. I love her positive energy and her story. I also do her videos on line. I do her 1000 ab challenge every other day and I am 50 with a 6 pack :)

This book is a GREAT representation of Cassey Ho's infectious positivity and caring support!As seen on her Youtube channel (Blogilates), the fitness and well-being plan presented in Hot Body Year Round is great for women of all ages. A fantastic supplement to her flawless monthly fitness calendars, I use the book most when cooking and traveling. I love having the exercises on hand, even when the internet isn't available to me. Full color and great detail! I'm definitely a "Popster" for life! If you're on the fence about this purchase check out her website and Youtube channel! It won't take long to convince you of the value she'll add to your life.

Cassey Ho is my favorite online trainer. She is witty, funny, but oh so qualified to teach fitness at any level. She has a great series online that teaches good clean eats, and that's when I first found her. Very funny...she cracked me up, and she shared how to make healthy, yummy food. Since then, I have followed her and subscribe to her monthly exercise program. This book stays on my iPad for reference. She is very credible and encouraging.

I am still not sure... I have to reread the book but I wasn't sure if I had to do exercises once or twice depending on the seasons but I liked how each exercise was presented clearly and love the recipes. I do wish it is a spiral book or easier to lay flat so I can follow along instead of using my phone to bookmark as I did each exercise.

I'm a big fan of Cassey Ho so naturally I wanted to get her book. I LOVE it! The only confusing thing I could see for people new to pop pilates is the workout scheduler doesn't really match up to the workouts posted in each season. You have to flip flop thru the book and it would be nice if it said day 1 do work out #_____ and there is no "total body workout" in the book. Just something a little more defined BUT DONT! let something like that sway your decision. Cassey is great, this book motivates you, and when your on the go you can always bring this along! Love love love it! Ill be buying her video next!

I love Cassie! This is the best thing ever! It has a lot of NEW recipes in the book & gorgeous pictures. A must have for any Pop Pilates/Blogilates fan and anyone who needs a pep in their workouts!I love that she separated things by season. If you already have some of her food journals, everything will just go together with this book. It is a culmination of stuff she already already released somewhat (some of the pics in her food meals are the same) but I really adore this book.Her food ideas are FABULOUS. & easy to understand. Her workouts are HARD but worth it. Did I mention I love her? And I am a runner for crying out loud..

I have been an avid Blogilates follower for a year now, and when I heard Cassey was coming out with a book, I knew I had to have it. It is the Bible of POP Pilates. Filled with gorgeous color photos, intense workouts broken down step-by-step, healthy recipes, and encouraging letters, this book makes working out fun, exciting, and invigorating. Cassey's method and her book truly make fitness a lifelong pursuit and a joyful journey. Cassey's positivity and passion are infectious, and the pages of her book truly demonstrate her eagerness to help her students achieve their dreams. Divided into four parts--one for each season--the book also includes a history of pilates (Did you know it was invented in Germany?), basic pilates technique, and nutritional information. The beautiful photographs are enough reason to buy it. Enjoy this new guide in your fitness journey. It's a keeper!
