Thomas Pavitte, born in New Zealand, is a graphic designer and experimental artist who often uses simple techniques to create highly complex pieces, and whose dot-to-dot pieces have been enjoyed by people all over the world. I love dot-to-dot books, Marvel, and Thomas Pavitte, so I was ecstatic to see that he was coming out with a book that combined all of those things. I pre-ordered this one and I have not been disappointed. The numbers are definitely very small, but with a bright light, I haven't had much difficulty deciphering the numbers. I've included a couple images of the small dots to give you a better idea of their size. It's certainly something to consider, and if you struggle to see small images you may need to use a magnifying glass for this one. It does help that all of Thomas's dot-to-dot books use a different ink color for each 100 numbers, so that makes it easier to find each number. Also, because each image has so many dots, you never have to draw very long lines. With other dot-to-dot books I often have to use a ruler because the lines can criss-cross across the entire page, but this book doesn't do that, so I haven't need to use a ruler at all to create clean straight lines. The numbers can get very close together, so be sure to use a fine-point pen or marker or you'll be drawing over your numbers a lot. I usually use between a 0.1mm- and 0.4mm size pigment liner. Sakura Pigma Micron's are my favorite for this book. I recommend tearing out each page before you begin working so you can lay it completely flat on a hard surface. I have several of the completed images hanging on my fridge and I get a lot of compliments about them.

These dots are exceeding difficult to see. I wear glasses, just had my eyes checked with a new prescription and trying to read the numbers let alone find the numbers seems nearly impossible. Like a granny, I had to grab a magnified glass and even that wasn't good enough. This was purchased for my 7 year old who is need of a good challenge. He recently had his eyes checked by a pediatric ophthalmologist. He has perfect eyesight and even those young perfect eyes could not read the numbers. I REALLY wanted to love this and the concept is amazing, but in the end I really really really don't like it!

This book is not a normal size dot-to-dot. I didn't read the description that closely to note the paper size. That's not a mark against it, just a heads up. The designs are impressive, some covering two pages. Many have multiple colors, so if the person wanted to, they could use different pen colors too.It was bought as a gift, and he's happy with it. So I'm happy with the book as well.

I am a teacher and I purchased this book for my students to work in after they finished state testing. These dot-to-dot pages are challenging enough that my middle school students really enjoyed them. I like that the dots are color coded to make it easier to do - every 100 dots, the color changes. They are complex enough that you can't just look at the blank page and know what it is. Several of my students took their pages home to show family members. I even tried my hand at one of them and had a blast.

until this book came out the only quibble i had with the series was the poster dot to dot. 1000 dots for two pages just does not look all that good. too spacey. exception the sydney opera house done looks darn good here problem solved. the poster has 1700 dots better result. i have bought this complete series. am now just finishing up on acouple books. hey thunder press send this pavitte back to work LOL i need more

Love this dot to dots! Great looking art when finished, if it wasn’t for the numbers would make cool art to hang on the wall for any Marvel fan. The numbers are a little small, I use a pair of reading glasses so I don’t strain my eyes but it wouldn’t stop me from ordering another book. I highly recommend for both adults and kids.

WHile the images look like they are very nice the dots are SOOO small that I can't do the puzzles. I found that to be quite frustrating. Especially considering the physical size of this book it would seem that the dots could have been made bigger.

The dots are so small you need a magnify glass to read the numbers!

I'm a nerd, but I really like this. It's got a soft outer leatherish cover and a red silky page holder. The pages don't stick and it looks nice. It's been easier to manage than the hard cover and I actually don't mind having it around, so I don't use my pocket edition much anymore.

To give context for this review, I have an undergraduate degree in mathematics, am nearly done with a master's in the same subject, and have nearly a decade of experience in a technical field. I believe this is one of the lesser quality texts that I have encountered throughout my academic and professional career. I am roughly a month into using this text, and it takes me 4 or 5 times reading through a single paragraph to understand the author's attempts to describe simple concepts. Hopefully this comparison doesn't detract from the quality of the review, but the scenario descriptions are occasionally written in convoluted run-on sentences similar to Vizzini from "Princess Bride" trying to reason his way out of drinking iocane powder. Additionally, I do not like that the text requires you to consult an online reference for explanations of example problems, since the examples are often necessary to decipher the block text descriptions. The language/notation seems to vacillate back and forth between different skill levels, meaning that it lacks consistency and oversimplifies at some points and over-complicates at others. I will be stuck relying primarily on lecture notes and setting aside twice as much time as planned to slog through the assigned reading. Luckily I have a good professor, but if you have a difficult-to-follow professor to accompany this book or are looking for a stand-alone reference, I would seek out supplemental resources.

Don't use if you want a mathematical treatment of game theory. Osborne assumes almost no knowledge of math. His explanations are pretty verbose and convoluted. Maybe it would be more useful for undergrads that don't know much math, though I can't imagine grad students finding this text very useful.There is a partial solution manual available online, but it contains the solutions to mostly the easier questions, and the more difficult exercises do not have solutions. I'd imagine this would be difficult to use for self-study.

This book manages to teach game theory in depth while avoiding any mathematics beyond rudimentary calculus and set theory. It was used as the basis for an undergraduate course that I took, and none of the texts I've used as a graduate student can compare in terms of clarity. This is a book that takes its time, letting ideas sink in rather than abandoning students who don't grasp new concepts right away. The problems given are interesting, and many have clearly-written solutions available online.If you are looking for a more advanced text, then Ken Binmore's recent Playing for Real stands out above the crowd.

I bought this book as a required coursebook for a class on game theory. At first, I hated this book. There are no solutions to the exercises contained within the book, as another reviewer has noted. If you want to self-teach, you may struggle. However, after performing due diligence, I found that there exists online a pdf of solutions to most exercises within the book, available for free.I can not speak for whether this book is best in comparison to others, because I have not read others, nor would I have the in-depth knowledge to compare, as this is not my field.What I can tell you is that I have learned a lot from this book, but only once I found the self-published solutions manual from the author, available here:[...]If you buy this book, that's pretty necessary if you plan to go forward alone.

Too dry. I love technical books but am disappointed by how boring the author makes this material. The people using game theory are very interesting. Find something that incorporates it, this reads like a textbook.

Although other reviewers mentioned that this book is confusing, after spending more than 10 minutes trying to put in a delicate way, I am just going to say this book is not just confusing, it is just ****, sorry for the language, but maybe the publisher or author should have proof read this book before publishing it. Maybe it is just me but I don't see who is the potential audience of this book combining confusing language, with no flow of logic and no math. Even writing this review I have spent more than 20 minutes trying to understand how did the publisher gave this book a green light or why are the professors around the nation is using this book. Saying this would probably hurt the credibility of this review but this books just sucks, plain and simple, this textbook is a perfect example of how a textbook shouldn't be....

Lisa Genova, the author of Still Alice, has done it again. She has taken a every serious medical issue, combined it with a believable, intelligent main character and created an informative, realistic and hopeful story. I had never heard of Left Neglect until reading this story. Sarah, our main character seems to have everything she wants, a high powered job, a loving husband, three children, a beautiful home and an unending schedule, on which she seems to thrive. Genova describes beautifully, what that life is like. Sarah's life is a whirlwind of "must dos". She revels in the fact that she can do it all, although sometimes her subconscious is telling her otherwise. This life abruptly changes when Sarah is involved in an automobile accident that leaves her with frontal lobe brain damage. While she survives the crash and is physically recovering, her brain no longer recognizes the left side of her body. Genova takes us through Sarah's responses beginning with denial that anything is wrong, through realization of her situation and on to adjustments that alter her life and, in the process bring her a new happiness. A side story of particular interest is her relationship with her mother. We learn that Sarah lost her brother in a drowning accident when they were children and that her mother was never the same after that. Sarah felt abandoned and alone and as she grew and married, she lost touch with her mother in every real sense. Following the accident, her mother comes back into her life, offering help. We can see ourselves in Lisa's characters. We can feel the emotions and the disappointments and we can only hope that we can rise above our challenges, much as Sarah does in this book.

This book was recommended by my neurologist. I suffer from left neglect due to a recent stroke, but didn't understand it.. The author is a hoot. She can take a subject that's so serious and make it so relatable.By the middle, I was thanking my lucky stars that I didn't experience anything as severe as the subject of this book did. I didn't read Still Alice, another of this author's novels, but I saw the film. The author is doing a great service by writing about these neurological conditions in such a human way. By the end, I understood left neglect do much better than I have from just reading medical websites, or having therapists who haven't experienced it tell me about it.Highly recommended.

Negatives: The beginning was pretty slow for me (though that may be partially because I was reading too many books at the same time). Once the book did pick up, I still had a hard time getting into it because I'm a bit squeamish. Some of the recovery details were vividly described and I just had a hard time reading a lot of chapters at a time.Positives: I learned a ton about a condition I didn't even know existed and once I got about 40% of the way through I couldn't put it down. Also, it was so inspirational and in the end was more about perseverance and family than the actual tragedy. I loved all the family dynamics; they felt real and very nuanced. Sarah felt genuine with all her varied and conflicting emotions; she's proud of her success but feels guilty for the time it takes away from her family. I can relate to that, even if I don't actually have kids yet. Sarah and Bob's relationship was strong but they had their own issues throughout. The deep-seated turmoil between Sarah and her mom was probably what I connected to most and I thought it was well done. I guess my point is that this wasn't just a dry medical story to teach us about a relatively unknown condition: we get to truly see how a person with this condition would experience life.

I wanted to love this boo but it just didn't happen. As someone with left neglect, although not as bad as the book's main character, I would say that the portrayal is unrealistic.Firstly, Sarah must have been in the worst rehab hospital in the country. When I was in rehad they had an alarm on my bed and on my wheelchair to make sure I didn't get up without professional supervision. Even using the bathroom required someone to go with me, door open. Sometimes this was a man, which was embarrassing, but hey, there is no privacy when you're in the hospital. When I started walking, my therapist always used a support belt on me until they were sure I was stable enough to walk on my own. I NEVER fell down. They NEVER let me walk into things. THey NEVER left me alone in the therapy room/gym.Also, why wasn't her head bandaged after surgery? The test they gave her to see if she was blind would not have proved that she wasn't blind to the left (left homonymous hemianopsia, which I have). In either case, the finger would have disappeared as soon as it went to the left of the midpoint. Why didn't she complain or mention the extreme pain after brain surgery? I had a brain hemorrhage which is probably not as painful as being in a car crash since you would probably have other injuries. Brain surgery is the most painful thing I can even imagine, and I really try not to remember it. But I did have a double crainiotomy so maybe mine was more painful than average.She doesn't mention running into walls, doors, people, whatever except at the beginning. This is something I deal with everyday. When she lost Linus, she was able to "run" down the sidewalk without running into anyone, something I can't imagine. She is also able to scan to the left with a lot more success than I have. It's very hard to remember to do something when you've forgotten about it pretty much by definition. She also never mentions that your brain makes up excuses for how things make sense without the left side. This is almost impossible to fight since it's your own brain so you naturally believe it.I'm giving it two stars (instead of one) because it at least addresses this disability which few people know about.

I'm afraid I only made it through the first 10% before giving up so I can't tell if it gets any better, it certainly can't get much worse. Absolute drivel. Sorry Corey but keep trying.

When I read the description of the book, I thought it could go one of two ways: either I’d love it or hate it. Well, I loved it. It reminds me of Hitchhiker’s Guide but with more action. Thad is a character I can relate to. Earth is destroyed and it’s up to him and a collection of friends he meets to build an alliance to take down the evil space dictator Derask. A bit tropey? Sure, but it works. I hope there is a part 2.

I rolled the dice on this new release from an unknown to me author and am glad I did. The main character, Thad, is a reluctant hero who grows into the role as the story progresses. The book doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s a fun adventure that made me want to see how it ended.

This is a great and invigorating read. I thoroughly enjoyed the story line and it kept me gripped throughout. I do not want to give too much away, so I will just say that this is a MUST READ for anyone that enjoys sci-fi thrillers with great storylines.

This is fun book. If you’re looking for some hard scifi space opera, look elsewhere. If you’re looking for an outrageous adventure full of weird characters, then buy this book. I highly recommend it.

Fleck pulled me in with his motley set of characters and held my curiosity with clever and hilarious escapades. I can't wait for another book!
