I have never spent so much time in God's word. I love love love love love this bible! If I won the lottery I would buy one of these bibles for everyone in recovery and everyone who is still struggling with their addiction. My fiance and I both have this bible and we read it together and then discuss what we read. I cannot even express in words what this bible is doing for me. I would recommend it to anyone who is or has been struggling with any kind of addiction. Whether it be drugs, alcohol, codependency, any kind of hurt habit or hang up. It's amazing! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! !

I ordered the life recovery bible when I was going through a very difficult time in my life. I was 34 facing jail and had a drug addiction, someone had recommended for me to get this. I decided to go ahead and order this book and to my surprise it was just what I needed to help me thru a difficult time. In this book it not only has the words of The Lord but it also has some passages on the side of the pages that help you get thru daily prayer and actually make a lot of sense.I really love this book! If you are going thru a ruff time in your life I would highly recommend getting this to help you through it. I can't really compare it to any other services but what I can say is that if your reluctant on getting help thru a third party then this book is perfect for you. It is about the size of a regular Bible and comes with a very nice protective box. :) I carry it with me everywhere, whenever I am feeling down and out I can always open my recovery bible and know that it will helpo me thru almost any situation that I may encounter.

This Bible has really helped. I often overlooked the NLT and considered it comparable to "The Message," but decided to take the time and read the Introduction section. It goes into detail how this version was created and all the various contributors on the team who reviewed this translation. It made me feel confident that I was indeed getting THE Word and not a watered down feel-good read. It has various readings, much as a study Bible would, and also has parts designated for anyone working through the 12 Steps. I would recommend this Bible to anyone struggling with addiction of any kind or really anyone who has been out of the Word for a while.

It is the main book in all of my AA materials. I do not use it in the AA groups but with those who I support and walk with in this time of recovery. Addition is hell and most peopel do not have a clue who are on the outside of it and looking in....

This is a wonderful Bible version to for people in recovery, people with mental illness, or just people wanting to detoxify their life. It has references, a glossary, lists on certain subjects (honesty, sex, food, values). BUT the hardcover version I used to have was better quality. The pages are super thin which makes putting notes in the margins difficult to impossible. The binding started coming apart after less than a month (month and is now thoroughly taped!). That said the content far exceeds the quality!

The Bible itself is wonderful. Awesome tool for recovery. I am upset with the defects in the one I was given. Maybe I’m being picky, but I expect a brand new book to be delivered without damage. As you can see from the pictures, the spine and binding were damaged. There is a page that is creased because it was not cut properly and is too long for the book (this one they likely could not see as the book was wrapped). Overall, I love it, just wish it was delivered in better condition.

This was a well written book for younger audiences looking into history/biography. The additional information of this character fills out his life and makes one realize how the human spirit must win over adversity to rise above the wrongs committed. It would be a good read for a school project.

I am using this for language arts tutoring fo a sixth grader. He loves this true story, and wants to read more about Olaudah.

This is a great book because it is a primary source for people who want to study slavery. But be warned-there are very cruel things in this book that are described...

I wish I could see the exhibit itself, because I found the catalog disappointing. The illustrations within the essays are teeny-tiny, not much better than as aids to memory. In the section of plates, they're bigger, and only 1 to a page, but almost all of them are surrounded by very large white margins. The result, at least for me, a big Magritte fan, is to reduce the impact of the paintings -- there's none of the "Oh, WOW!" reaction when you see these illustrations, and you're grabbed as much by the big, stark white margins as for the art. The paintings begin to feel like unimposing postcards that can be a little kitschy. I wish the book designers, editors and publishers had used a bigger format, and perhaps some less luxurious (and less blinding) paper that would have allowed for bigger reproductions without exploding the budget. Compared with other recent catalogs (e.g., for Dorothea Lange, Gertrude Abercrombie, Delacroix, Kerry James Marshall), this catalog doesn't give as much relative value for the money. I haven't read the essays yet, but am hoping those will make up at least some for the disappointing illustrations and plates.

I had the immense pleasure of seeing the exhibit at SFMOMA the last weekend it was showing. The curators did a fantastic job of telling a story from the selected pieces, and this text in particular is a remarkably accessible window into that work. Very newbie-friendly, to boot.

I had tried planning my itinerary using just this book but became overwhelmed. I had a list of things to do and see, but it was really hard to figure out what to do when, what went together. The day plans were too elaborate if you didn't have a car (I would never rent a car there). I ended up supplementing this with Lonely Planet's ebook and that was much better organized. Then I could use this as a resource for specific things I wanted to look up. This book was okay as far as it went, but I really needed the two complementary books to figure it out.

The guide has a good cross section of information and is a useful tool to prepare for a visit to Malta. Great map enclosed

Wonderful guide book. Small and easy to pack and carry. Plan to use it when we take the hop on hop off bus to tour Malta. Learned about Gozo and this also tweaked our interest.

Many people love San Francisco and the surrounding communities. I love the surrounding park lands. About twice a year I travel to the Bay Area to hike and explore some of the best off season hiking in the state. Early November is my favorite, but late March and early April are also nice. But you can find superb hiking any time of year in the Bay Area. State parks, various regional park districts, and two spectacular national park units, Point Reyes National Seashore and the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, vie for the attention of hikers. There are of course many good guidebooks to the Bay Area, but I have all three editions of this book and it is by far the best. This book has the most rigorous day hikes and the broadest selection of trails for the area.Although the Bay Area does include some long trails, the Skyline to the Sea Trail through Big Basin Redwoods, and the East Bay Skyline Trail being the best of these (Ms. Brown describes these and other trails in her introduction to the book) this guide is focused on day hikes, although several of the routes would make for a pleasant overnight trip. Unlike many day hike books, however, 101 Great Hikes features a broad diversity of trails, from short treks to the very scenic Point Bonita Lighthouse, now reopened, to several long and arduous treks that will challenge the stamina of many fit outdoor athletes. The trips to Murrieta Falls and the Grand Loop through Mt. Diablo fall into this category. Readers can find something for everyone in this book, and the chances are good that once you start exploring, you will want to do more.What's new in this edition: a lot more of Napa and Sonoma counties. Brown describes the route up Taylor Mountain in a newly opened preserve, adds Zim Zim falls, the extended Bay Area's highest waterfall, and includes the trails along Suisun Bay in the Rush Ranch preserve. I have not explored any of these trails and have added all of them to my "to do" list for the Bay Area. (This list grows faster than I can hike the trails, so I have a lifetime of vacations awaiting me.) Also new: each chapter has a list of trails found within the chapter, including helpful icons (wildlife viewing, bird watching, dogs allowed, etc) along with mileage, elevation change, and difficulty rating. Coupled with a location map, this makes seaching for the perfect trail to hike easier than in early editions of the book, or most other currently available hiking guides.Moon publishing also kept the best features of the older text. This is the only one of their books to feature trail maps, and the sketch maps here are among the best available in a hiking text. They are clear, and show connecting routes, significant route features, and nearby trails. This complements the text itself, which routinely lists options for exploring nearby areas. And of course, the book keeps the best trails as well: Kehoe Beach, the only trail you can walk a dog on in Point Reyes National Seashore, the Berry Falls Loop in Big Basin Redwoods State Park, the Bay View Loop in Point Pinole Regional Shoreline, and the Loch Lemond Loop in Loch Lemond Recreational Area.In all, I cannot recommend this book highly enough. The San Francisco Bay area has thousands of miles of trails, and enough hiking to keep you occupied for years, whether you are a resident or visitor. But this guidebook has more extensive routes than most, including its companion volume, California Hiking which is co-authored by Ms. Brown and Tom Stienstra. The latter volume, while covering the same preserves in its Bay Area chapter, does not include as many loop hikes and generally speaking has shorter routes. So it is well worth your while, even if you are a fan of California Hiking, as I am, to purchase this volume as well. These are trails you will want to explore again and again.

I am really getting down with this comprehensive guide to some really awesome hikes in the Bay Area! The book offers detailed features of many wonderful hikes, such as whether or not dogs are permitted, types of hikes (from easy to strenuous) (scenery to wildlife) and makes great trail/ loop recommendations. I try to knock out two every weekend and simply yearn for more!An awesome book- would highly recommend.Happy trails.

Haven't tried any of the hikes yet, going in april, but I like how the hikes are described and the extra info included around maps, best time of year etc. Will update once have used on the trail.

No need for this review as this book it's highly reviewed already. Great ideas for hiking with details and correct mileage a.. Some trails are changing names recently will be nice to see an amendment to this book talking about those. But u can't get lost if u follow this one great collection of hikes as well

We especially like that it is broken down by regions and give helpful tips, like best for families, great wildlife watching, etc...

I hike every day in the South Bay. I bought the book looking for new hikes in that area, but was supremely disappointed as the book has very few, almost bypassing all the hills in Santa Clara County. It skips hikes above San Jose-Los Gatos-Cupertino and goes straight to Morgan Hill.Bruce

Short, concrete, well organized, super personal. You'll read this during a short flight, but probably will hang in your mind for a lot longer...The book is a collection of Richard Branson's lessons and life mottos. Surprisingly a lot of them (probably half) were forged when he was a kid. Much of them are very stoic-like for an apparently very-loose-guy, but totally worth learning from his stories and introspection. The book is far more than a live life to the fullest, seek happiness and follow your heart kind of reading. It goes chapter after chapter collecting a list of life commandments that let you not only have a sense of how Branson is, but also how his decision making process is like and how he weights things in business (risk). In fact, I want to know more about the Branson character and probably will read another of his books. Good buy.Side note: I haven't read any other Branson's books but to me this one feels very personal and sincere. No ghost writer here I guess.

It's rare that I stop reading a book half way through. And with this one I really wanted to but kept going only because a friend had read it and wanted to discuss.It's filled with very generic advice (such as 'Be bold, aim high' and 'Challenge yourself') that you will find in any book of this genre.The writing itself is not very good and I found the book quite boring.There is alot of time spent on Branson explaining how awesome Branson is.

This book is quite short (hence Quick Reads), but it is full of sage advice for anyone at any point of their life. Each chapter starts with several aphorisms and then goes to explain their relevance to Mr Branson and subsequently to you. It also gives a glimpse at what it has taken Mr Branson to get to the position he is in now and the underlying philosophy behind his business. While it by no means tells anywhere near the full story of any of the many tales it provides sufficient for relevance to the aphorism.I really enjoyed reading this book and will certainly read it again at least once. I picked this up at a time of change in my own life and found almost everything to be relevant and mostly what I needed to hear, without frills or complicated explanations. Clear and precise, it is a good guide for living a full and rewarding life, all the while doing, or at least trying, the right thing by all.Great read. Strongly recommend it.

I have read, shared, and recommended this book to everyone I know. It was so hard to put down. I actually read this book in a little over an hour. If the world ran every business like Sir Richard Branson, everyone might enjoy going to work everyday! This book is entertaining and inspirational.

So... this book is a very concise but really helpful guide and anecdotes of who is considered one of the best Entrepreneurs of the world. He summons really different points of view from how he created a Magazine, his Record Company (who signed the Pistols and the Tubular Bells which is the group that created the soundtrack for The Excorcist blockbuster), his Airline Company (that strived to survive because British Ariways was very competitive to them) and even how he bought and Island!!!Not to even mention that Richard was able to interview people like John Lennon or Mick Jagger whilst in his youth.The best by so far if you want to learn on Entrepreneurship!

I adulted. I actually adult a lot, but I also plan. These stickers are now my life. There is also a calendar, but mostly there are stickers. If you are familiar with the I Adulted book -- I wasn't until I looked at related items -- there may be a bit of overlap for you, but you may also just want more stickers and not care.This is a full size wall calendar. Each month's image is a selection of four of the phrases found on stickers. They are obviously blown up to fill the page and not self-adhesive. The day of the week boxes are big enough to hold one sticker each. There are 128 stickers, so obviously you can't adult the rest of the year.I will hang the calendar itself up somewhere fun and use it for an at-a-glance check, but I'm saving the stickers for my day planner, because there are some days where fine-tuning the adulting thing is a bit more difficult. I know after a 10-12 hour day at work (a bad one), I do deserve a sticker if I still eat my veggies. I salute someone else for making it a possibility.This would be a great gift for others, and I think it will make a fun little pick me up for you if you have a sense of humor and need the occasional reminder that is okay to not be an adult sometimes and to salute the moments when you are even when it's not easy.

This is the cutest "adult" calendar ever! I work in an office environment, and have multiple calendars for various things, but this one was just perfect! I have it currently hanging up on the side of my file cabinet with some command strips, and everyone gets a hoot out of the stickers! This is a 16 month calendar, which is great as I can use it now, and the blocks with the dates are the perfect size to jot down notes, or use the awesome stickers it comes with! I love the "I Adulted" theme, and some of my co-workers had to snag a few stickers to place on their items as they were so funny! It's definitely a conversation starter for anyone coming through my office, and it is highly durable too. I've used markers without any leaking behind the pages, which is great! Awesome calendar, and everyone is enjoying it!

Call it what you want but the " I Adulted! 2018-2019 16-Month Wall Calendar: Stickers for Grown-Ups" is certainly and amusing pick to keep up throughout the year. It starts in September 2018 and ends in December of 2019.This is a fun calendar because it's humorous. Life is hard already so why not poke a little fun at it. This calendar includes a set of 100 full-color circular stickers that can be used on the calendar itself or wherever else you'd like. Note that the circle stickers perfectly fit into a calendar square!The stickers features sayings like "I took my meds", "I ate a salad", "I ignored the online troll", " I survived the holidays and so forth. If one takes offense easily to a laugh, this is not the calendar for them.The colorfulness really impressed me. The graphics look fantastic and make a truly bold statement. Each month that's included in the calendar features four of the sticker designs but printed larger in order to fit the size of the upper part of the calendar.The calendar is glossy, and made well. The stickers stick excellently without ripping or tearing while trying to remove them from the adhesive page which they are on.Most known US, UK, and Canada holidays are included. The first day of the week starts on a Sunday.Overall, a fun well-made calendar. It makes me smile and reminds me though life may be a challenge it's the little things that matter the most.
